Happy Independence Day!

Today, I celebrated the entire day in a city I’ve been wanting to visit for over a decade: Boston, Massachusetts! It’s also the furthest east I’ve ever traveled in North America.

I did not plan to visit Boston for the 4th of July as Kal and I originally planned to head west but the way in which things worked out brought me back east towards Boston on this day. The day was awesome and it was the best 4th of July I’ve celebrated in a very VERY long time.

Usually I celebrate July 4th in California with fireworks. It’s awesome to be in California to celebrate the massive amounts of freedom I have as an American but I always feel like something is missing when I celebrate it there on this day.

Today, I was able to finally understand why I felt that way. I love California, but to celebrate this day of freedom in one of the 13 colonies that declared independence from Great Britain in 1776 just felt so right.

I spent the day with my sister and my daughter by visiting the New England Aquarium, walking along the red brick line of the Boston Freedom Trail, visiting the Boston Market, the Faneuil Marketplace, Boston Common and of course Cheers, an iconic landmark and a show I used to watch all the time as a kid. So much fun and such a great way to spend the day as an American!

So as I sit in our hotel room for the rest of the evening, watching fireworks, I’d like to cheers my fellow Americans and wish you all a happy and safe Independence Day!

  1. Hey, hey, you made it! Glad you got to experience Boston on Independence Day (and that you were able to snag a hotel room!). Cheers is great! First place I ever drank when I was 16-friends and I drove up when we were in high school, skipped classes, and ended up drinking during lunch. It was awesome.

Boston’s glad to have you here!

    1. Aww thanks! And thank you so much for the recommendations! You rock Selene! ❤️ I loved Faneuil Hall marketplace! I just had to do the touristy thing while I was here. I didn’t go inside Cheers as it was super packed when we showed up. I figured I could go there maybe for New Year’s some year in the future. Now we are off to check out Salem for the day! ☺️
